We are operating two separate sites this summer to best serve our community. Please note the differing dates, days of operation, and meal types for each location below:
📍 Lessenger Elementary School
Dates: June 9, 2026 – August 14, 2026
Days: Monday through Friday (Closed July 3)
Times:
Breakfast (Hot Meals): 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
Lunch (Hot Meals): 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Who it serves: Open to all Lamphere Summer Camp participants as well as the general public.
📍 Simonds Elementary School
Dates: July 6, 2026 – July 30, 2026
Days: Monday through Thursday
Times:
Breakfast: 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. (Breakfast in the Classroom for summer school students; cafeteria service for the public).
Lunch: 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (Available to all participants).
Who it serves: Open to all summer school students as well as the general public.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Does my child need to attend these schools to get a meal?
No! Any child or teen aged 18 or younger can visit either site during the designated times to receive a free meal.
Can parents pick up meals and take them home?
No. Federal regulations require that all meals be eaten on-site in the school dining areas.

Field Day - Fun Day at Lamphere Center with indoor and outdoor games and activities, a dunk tank and an ice cream stand. The Madison Heights Fire Department made a guest appearance with Fire Truck for all to explore.







The Lamphere staff appreciates the available refreshments and our ATP students enjoy the opportunity to manage this micro-enterprise on our campus.

Knights of Columbus from Madison Heights hosted their annual Holiday Party for Lamphere Center staff and students. KofC members and spouses provided and served lunch and then Santa visited each classroom with Christmas gifts for every student. The party continued with a DJ dance with holiday fun for all.

Lamphere Center Adult Transition Teacher, Ms. Lumetta had this to say about a recent ‘Community Based Instruction’ outing:
“Today my students had the opportunity to visit Inclusively Fit for a CBI trip. Inclusively Fit is a gym designed specifically for individuals with disabilities, and they absolutely loved it! Our instructor, Mark, is a former center-based teacher who now runs adaptive workout classes. Mark was very enthusiastic. He’s happy to create personalized workout sessions based on students’ ability levels and he adjusts the class length to fit our schedule.
The Lamphere Center staff is dedicated to pursuing opportunities for student
engagement in diverse experiences to enhance development.

A Halloween Dance is planned for Thursday and Trick or Treating on Friday followed by a half-day dismissal.

At Lamphere Center, appropriate behavior is encouraged through collaborative classroom instruction and activities designed to result in positive outcomes.

WELCOME STUDENTS !! The first day of class is Monday August 25th. There will be many returning friends and there will be new students and staff members to meet. The classrooms have been cleaned and re-organized and new floors installed. There are safety and technology upgrades throughout Lamphere Center. We are excited to begin the 2025-26 school year with you!
